Shandalyn Brooks (Shan) is a modern Anne (of Green Gables). Warning though!  Shan is not as innocent as Anne. Her personality is more like Addie Loggins of Paper Moon, wise beyond her years. Miss Helen becomes her guardian, and welcomes the challenge of teaching her granddaughter social and religious conduct, and guiding her education. Shan is eager to improve herself, especially in academics. And like Anne, she is proud, honest, and intelligent.

 While still a teenager, Shan becomes involved in one of the largest scandals Hollywood has ever witnessed.  Rising star, Joey Alexander is the central figure and the accused.  Because he wants to protect Shan, he is silent.  His silence further implicates him. Shan makes the decision to break the silence, and in doing so, she exposes herself to unprecedented Hollywood and tabloid gossip. Though the scandal interrupts her pursuits, Shan triumphs by remaining committed to the ideals her grandmother instilled in her.
